The Medway Mosque located in Gillingham has been completed and inaugurated officially by his holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (adba), the fifth Khalifa of the Promised Messiah (AS) on Saturday 1st of March 2014. The Gillingham Chapter of the UK Ahmadiyya Jamaat is also celebrating its 50th year anniversary this year (1964-2014). This mosque was entirely funded by the Gillingham Jamaat members.
The building, originally known as Nasir Hall, was home to the Lower Gillingham Liberal and Radical Club until the early 1970s. It has been used by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association since 1975, but until now had not resembled a mosque from the outside. It now has a minaret and a golden dome on the roof. The building work has been paid for with donations from the Muslim community.
